Response: CLOSET AND CLOUDS

It was exciting to see very recognizable current original pieces to be altered into new pieces of art. I really enjoyed both of these video because of the differences in appropriation and revival alteration of media. In the video Trapped in the closet all at once the previous R. Kelly piece is layered each separate segment on top of each other. This made it a little difficult to watch but at the same time presented the information all at once without the separation of chapters. It makes the viewer wonder how important the sequencing of the original was for the portrayal of the song. The Super Mario clouds on the other hand stripped the video graphics and programming down to just the clouds and code of the original piece. This video makes the video wonder about the complexity or lack thereof of something that is an epic piece of video game culture. These videos together made for and interesting comparison between taking a piece and adding all the components together at once and then oppositely subtracting elements from an original piece.
