Four More Years

The Four More Years documentary offers great insight into the opinions and emotions of many different people involved. It's funny to see how these groups viewed themselves contrasted with how others viewed them. The young republicans recieved a lot of criticism for being an orchestrated group following the orders of the older, higher ups. This may have been there first or even second chance to vote in a presidential election and there were journalist being interviewed speaking about the convention being dull and orchestrated without any spontaneity, and then you have the young republicans being interviewed on the bus saying the exact opposite. I believe this says a lot about how one is perceived by others and how one may perceive himself. At one point we see a woman preping the Nixonettes on how they should act infront of a crowd. It seems that the young university girl being interviewed wants to be there and volunteer but this interview along with the Nixonette organizer interview shows just how much of a role being perceived by others in "the right light" can play, even though we often try to tell ourselves that decisions such as these are determined solely by the issues. By going into the convention and reporting directly on voters, other journalists, and protesters the viewers get to see and feel the emotions of these people instead of hearing another journalist or political analyst comment on the emotions and sentiments that were witnessed. This type of unconventional reporting puts those being interviewed or videod in the drivers seat to voice there opinions directly and not have to be reported by some journalist reading off of a teleprompter. This way all the emotions of the different groups attending the convention are experienced by those trying watch what is actually going on in the convention.
