Television delivers people and Boomerang

Richard Serra's video's were very interesting in that it brought to our attention what we already knew, but he stated it through television as a medium. In the Boomerang video a woman is talking while hearing what can be considered as an echo of her own voice. I think we've all experienced hearing a sentence we say repeated, especially with cell phones. The lady is saying that it is very distracting because it makes you lose your train of thought, but at the same time you can't stop talking because you want to hear your own voice. Your own voice is something a person doesn't hear, so hearing it intrigues the speaker. The woman goes onto say all the things that come to mind as she is hearing her own voice, and the remarkable part is that what she says is exactly what I think about when I'm talking on the cell phone and my voice is replicated. It reminds me of football games when sound reaches you at a different time depending on which side of the stadium you're standing on...it's quite distracting and I end up concentrating on the differences in the song than the song itself. The lady of Boomerang pretty much rambled on about nothing but at all and managed to take up 15 minutes of video time.
Serra's other video titled Television delivers people was more like a video of what you would see at the end of a movie...the credits. It could easily be replicated through what is now known as a powerpoint presentation. Serra states facts that if were on other mediums, for example in a book, people might not have read...but because it was on a television screen there was something intriguing about it. I couldn't help but want to read what the next line was going to say, as if I were expecting something different was going to happen but as a result I ended up reading all the facts that Serra wanted the reader to understand. He wanted us to know that the tv is a source of marketing to viewers and it feeds us what we want to see. We are a television generation and learn more and are more interested in what happens on television than any other source of medium. We watch the news from television rather than reading a newspaper, we teach children about the alphabet and morals through shows like "reading rainbow", magic school bus and barney. I can honestly say I still remember all the science lessons that magic school bus taught us. I liked this video because it made me reanalyze what I already knew about television.
